Rajbiraj : Local youth have cleaned the fountain that has been floating in the Bhaluahi stream in Rajbirajpur district for years. The youth are engaged in open sanitation with the slogan ‘Sanitation is in your hands, we the youth are with you’.
The Saptari Youth Club has said that the youth are being active in the local open, river sanitation every Saturday with the aim of giving a message that the country needs youth to change. Mohan Yadav, acting president of the club, said that every Saturday, in collaboration with the Rajbiraj Municipality and the Rajbiraj Youth Community, the youth are engaged in the cleanliness campaign of the Bhaluahi Khola and other rivers and khola.
He mentioned that the fountains, grasses, drains and wells scattered in the stream have been cleaned by removing the waste materials, including water bottles, lead, iron, which have been thrown by the people for years. Youth Club Nepal has reached the 11th week of the ongoing sanitation campaign.
The acting chairman said that along with the overall development of Yadavlajilla, the Bhaluahi stream passing through the main market of Rajibpur is being managed. “Sanitation is being done even today with the help of the youth to return that shell to its original form,” he said.
In view of climate change, sanitation has been carried out from the Drinking Water Division Office in Rajbiraj-8 to the Public Secondary School on Kanauli Road. He said that open sanitation was being carried out by mobilizing the resources of the club and said that the JCB was being rented and sanitized in a group of 40 people.
Acting President Yadav said, “To make the community clean, healthy and maintain the ecological balance, we have started a sanitation campaign with the participation of people’s representatives, national service workers, political parties, media workers. We need financial support from the municipality to continue this work. ”
Stating that there is a plan to plant trees by completing Bhaluahi Khola Sanitation within a year, he hoped for everyone’s cooperation in this.
Ayush Shrestha, secretary of the club, said that due to the fumes coming from all directions in the Bhaluahi stream, the risk of mosquitoes, kirapatanga, etc. has increased along with adversely affecting the environment. “We are confident that with the introduction of sanitation, it will have a positive impact on the health of the locals,” he said.
Locals said that the floodwater inundates the Rajbiraj Nagar area even when there is normal rainfall due to the waste of the stream. The club has started planting flower saplings on the road in front of the government office in Rajbiraj. The secretary of the club, Shrestha, informed that flowers are being planted on the two-kilometer route to Ram Mandir through Rupani Bus Park, Raj Rangshala.
